Welcome!

I'm Rose - Maternity Nurse, Night Nanny, Baby Care Specialist and Postnatal Transition Coach. I am the proud owner of Nurtured Hearts Mother & Baby Care Ltd, and live in Newcastle Upon Tyne with my husband and young children.

As a mother myself, I know how vital it is to have trusted and professional help to call upon when we need it most. This is especially true in the perinatal period, when gentle guidance and compassionate care is crucial for the wellbeing of both mother and baby.

New motherhood is a time of huge upheaval physically and emotionally, and amidst the joy and celebration there are also moments of vulnerability and uncertainty. As mothers we deserve to be nurtured with the same care and compassion as our babies, and given grace and understanding as we navigate a new and often overwhelming phase of life.

This philosophy lies at the heart of everything I do professionally, and was the motivation behind the creation of Nurtured Hearts Mother & Baby Care. I am a firm believer that to nurture a child we must also nurture their mother, forming a loving and supportive village around them both.

I am passionate about being part of this village, drawing on my background in nursing, psychology and newborn nannying to provide practical and emotional support to mothers throughout the perinatal period.

About

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of newborn and infant care, I have dedicated my career to the care of babies in both the home and hospital environment. My professional expertise lies not only in babycare, but in providing reassurance, emotional support and guidance for the whole family.

I am a qualified Maternity Nurse and Newborn Care Specialist, and have completed additional training in Breastfeeding Support, Care of Multiples, Safe Sleep, Infant Massage and Perinatal Mental Health Challenges. I have a particular interest in Maternal Wellbeing and Perinatal Psychology, and recently certified as a Postnatal Transition Coach.

I hold degrees in Psychology and Paediatric Health and Social Care, and prior to having children of my own spent 8 years providing nursing care to babies and children at a regional Children's Hospital in England.

I have extensive experience caring for newborns and babies of all ages, including those with additional needs and health challenges. Having three young children of my own, I also understand the realities of motherhood and the challenges of caring for tiny humans at their most dependant and demanding stages of development.

Qualifications & Experience

Over the course of my career I have cared for hundreds of babies and their families, and supported parents during some of their most vulnerable and challenging moments.

It is an immense privilege to be trusted with these intimate and unfiltered moments of parenthood, and I am particularly proud of the care I have given to mothers experiencing bereavement, newborn health challenges and postnatal anxiety and depression.

Whatever the circumstances, it takes huge trust to invite someone into your home and entrust them with the care of your precious baby. It is a responsibility I take extremely seriously, and I take pride in delivering the highest levels of care, professionalism and confidentiality.

I am committed to continuing professional development, and endeavour to provide my clients with the latest in evidence-based care and guidance. I also have an Enhanced DBS Check, Comprehensive Insurance and up to date training in Paediatric First Aid and Emergencies.

About

Alongside my work with babies, I am passionate about providing care and emotional support to women as they navigate motherhood. I know how easy it is for a mother's needs to be eclipsed by those of her baby, and for her own wellbeing to be neglected and placed on the backburner. Whilst everyone rushes to hold the baby, the mother's need to be nurtured and held is frequently overlooked - often when she needs it most. I am dedicated to addressing this, advocating for mothers in the perinatal period and ensuring that their wellbeing is afforded the same time, attention and priority as the care of their baby.

As a Postnatal Transition coach I see first hand how important it is for mothers to have someone to hold space for their emotions, to validate their experiences and to guide them gently through the immense changes of matrescence. Amidst the joy of pregnancy and parenthood come pressures,  conflicting emotions and moments of exhaustion and overwhelm.  Many of us will also carry trauma from our reproductive journeys and experiences, and this can impact on our experience of motherhood and increase our vulnerability in the perinatal period.

I recognise these complicated facets of motherhood, and the importance of supporting mothers with their emotional needs as much as their practical needs. In a season of life full of conflicting advice and opinions, I hope that I can silence some of the 'noise' surrounding mothers and be source of gentle guidance, empathy and care. Above all, I want to end my time with each family knowing that mother and baby have been equally held, equally nurtured, and equally supported to thrive.
